The Sufferings of Jesus Christ:
|Mark 8:||31: “And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.”|

|Acts 9:||16: “For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.” (Paul)|
|Philippians 1:||29: “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;”
|1 Peter 5:||10: “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”|

3: And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”

To enable one to understand / help others:
|2 Corinthians 1:||3: “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;|
4: Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5: For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6: And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.”
Bear Suffering patiently:
|1 Peter 2:||19: “For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.|
20: For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.”
Get suffering into perspective:
|Philippians 3:||8: “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,|
9: And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;”
Commit your soul to the One who created you:
|1 Peter 4:||19: “Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”|
Study Psalm 69:
All sufferers should read the Psalms. There you will find numerous examples of how to react to suffering. One's reaction to suffering is important. Do not grow bitter as many do and blame others or even God for not caring.
|Job 1:||8: “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?”|
|Job 13:||15: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.”|
|Revelation 21:||1: “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.|
2: And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3: And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5: And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
|Romans 8:||18: “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
|1 Corinthians 2:||9: “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”|
